Categorization of audio files

untitled-8.jpgWe’ve been having this discussion internally for a while, but we thought the users should have a say in regard to how we post audio entries; how we organize, tag, zip and present.

We’ve been experimenting with two formats. One, where a respective session is packaged with everything, and one where everything is split - ie different loops and a stand alone session.
An example:

The Boing Session - Tagged sessions, hip_hop, rnb, pop, urban, rap, gminor, boing

This is ‘only’ the session. You can find all the loops that make this up as stand alone entries. Compare this to a somewhat opposite approach:

10BeatBass - Tagged minor, sessions, loops, hip_hop, groove, pop, funky, piano, bass, keys, beat

See the difference? The first is only tagged sessions. Because it’s only a session. The latter is tagged session and loop… I wont rant of about the different ways of approaching this. But I would like to start a discussion about what people want and expect.

Discuss Audio Tagging and Categorization - Topic

Feel free to give your oppinion on other related material, ie how shots should be packaged. Some have contacted us asking for packs - others want one file/one sound at a time. There are certainly more areas than the above … so let’s leave it with - ‘and so on…’
