Piano Packs and Kits - Welcoming Music Producer DaDeMo

We would like to give a warm welcome to our latest music producer, DaDeMo.

He will be bringing some very sought after piano shot, loop and session material to iBeat

Besides the piano and keys in general, Daniel has worked with audio design at the University of Aarhus and is a competent accordion enthusiast.

DaDeMo has uploaded his first material, and has started getting the hang of things here. Already now, you can download a very nice collection of piano (grand piano) chords, that we hope are very well organized.

Drum Loops and Drum Shot Packs

Simple access and overview of the newest drum loops and drum shot packs in the audio archive - iBeat.org has one of the best and diverse original drum collections on the net

There are two main categories when looking into our drum material:

A drum loop archive

A drum shot archive

The Drum Loops
Drum loops are tagged with BPM and to a degree type, be it acoustic, electronic, pearl, groove, uptempo and so on. They are unprocessed (at least we try to keep the audio uncompressed and without to many effects). There are of course exceptions, since we publish what ever we make or have lying around. Therefore you can find lofi, delayed and layered loops in between clean acoustic recordings.

The Drum shots
We’ve dropped the idea of standard packaging - there simply isn’t one optimal way to publish diverse collections of drum samples.

The drum shot and percussion packs consist of grouped and related files. You can find complete sets: kick, snare, hi hat, crash, toms and so forth. But also only tom packages, noise packages and everything in between.

This is why we wrap up a streamable preview, to represent what’s in the (zipped) wave files/archive. The m3u or mp3 stream will be one long file - and the zipped shot packages, consist of cut up single shots (all the way up to forty files).

As always, our audio production material is available in mp3 and loss-less wave format. All is licensed under a Creative Commons License - Attribution-noncommercial or attribution. We consider this material to be free, but given the non-commercial license, it’s a truth with a few modifications.

All the audio here on iBeat.org is original, including drum samples, and we don’t want to have it stolen, and others making money of it by including if in sample Cd’s, publishing web sites that steal bandwidth and so on. We do however not mind writing up attribution only (along the lines of royalty free) if you have a specific project.

There is no sign up, and no limits here at iBeat … so just start downloading and producing drum beats and drum loops.

audio sample downloads and Mac Camino Browser compatibility issues

We noticed some are having problems pulling down the samples from the archive. In particular the wav files, when using the Camino Mac browser.

For now, we’d recommend using Safari, which has been tested and found working. On other platforms Opera, Internet Explorer and Firefox are doing a pretty good job, even though there are a few funky graphical results.

If you are experiencing any problems, please do let us know, and we will look into solutions. This also goes for audio in general - we try to wrap our head around usability, but the best feedback is always from actual users.

It shouldn’t be hard to find some use-able high quality free rap beats here.

Entries are shown as instrumentals / sessions (short but complete instrumentals) - so start rapping now.

Newest hip hop / rap entries are presented chronologically. You can grab the RSS 2.0 feed and get it in your reader or iGoogle/Pageflakes.

Please notice that the wording “free rap beats” is (mostly) for non-commercial use. The instrumental beats are available under Creative Commons licensing, so please take notice.

A question regarding usage of these free rap beats is in order. Since they are all licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license - some have wondered how they are free.

You are free to download the beats, and use them in any way, as long as you don’t make money from them.

In other words, it’s free rap beats because: There is no cost in downloading, there is no membership fee, non-commercial also means no royalties - we consider this free.

Forums away - If you hadn’t noticed

The community boards/forums are slowly closing. At least we wont be using it for communication on a general level. Commenting is the way ahead - and we are experimenting with Tangler and other social software.

We will keep the boards running for now. Still here. The user system is no longer integrated.

February Round Up

Yup. February sucked. At least for us here. Hopefully not for distinguished visitors.

Even though there has been some downtime, we’ve managed to get the first large scale session done. This adds up to, probably, the best drum wav files on the net/in the universe.

Pad on the back to Enoe, who is mainly responsible for listening through the hours of shit, and packaging something worthwhile for everyone.
